1956 Chevy 3100 Stepside Truck, rescued from riverbed

In 1995, i decided to buy another vintage, although i didn't have enough fund. This time, with the help of moms financial aid, i bought in Ankara a 1956 Chevrolet Truck. Actually, i bought only the documents :) The truck came as below, all parts were apart with a 6 cylinder 235 cuin cracked engine and 4 gear heavy duty floor shift transmission.

I had to register the car, but the owner who sold it several years back didnt officially transfer the car. So we had a 5 hour trip to Niğde, Turkey to find his owner, Cuma. We were fortunate to find him in his shop, and he didnt object to transfer the docs. After paying the huge dept of taxes, we left Niğde with new registration docs. Its license was 51 AZ 720.

The long story is here, in Turkish: http://www.yaptik.biz/modules/articles/article.php?id=65

It was my second car in life. I took well care of the restoration, and started driving with fun. It turned into a real beauty. I have got 06 DD 374 license plate, which was close to my '55.

It had some cronical problems. Rear brakes were locking slowly after some time of driving and releasing once the brakes are bleed. Started motor was not engaging from time to time and i was short circuiting it with a screw driver as a walk around solution. Its 1st gear was useless, too high gear ratio and 2nd gear was disengaging frequently, so that i bought another transmission. Steering had problems, it was difficult to drive it straight although i even converted to power steering (this one, i still don't know why).

It was really difficult to own two old cars, difficult to drive in winter; and i decided to sell this in 1997. My dad helped me to top the money and buy a Peugeot 106XS. Only in 2011, i regretted of this sales, but it was too late.

BUT, i traced it from its VIN and found its new license plate number in Istanbul. Now it belongs to a football player, who is trying to sell it for 3 years. Look what he did to my car :(
