3 projects for '55: Body works, Fuel Injection and Transmission

Since i bought my 1955 in 1994; i put myself into 3 main renovation projects.

1) In 1999, because of rusted body, doors became impossible to shut, therefore all the body was pealed off, repaired and painted. Body mounts were replaced and under body protection was done. I didnt know that there was such little time before my seat would fall on the road.

2) In 2003, because i was not happy with carburetor and having temperature issues in summer, instead of buying a new carburetor, i decided to buy Edelbrock's #3503 Full Injection Conversion kit for small block Chevy. It was a challenging project since now many people knew about it in Turkey. I decided to do it in my garden my self. At the end, it turned into success just with 1-2 visits to mechanics to buy supplies. The full story in Turkish is here:

3) In 2011, i was also tired of my manual 3 gear transmission, hardly engaging to 3rd, leaking everywhere and decided for automatic conversion. I choose 200R4 overdrive tranny, since it would speed up my car, and make my trips more comfortable with 4 gears. This was done in mechanics shop with my technical guidance.
