1957 Chevy 3100 Pickup Restoration - 2 (April 2012)

Its almost spring now, and lots of progress since the last article
(Part 1 can be found HERE and Part 3 HERE).

Since then body restoration is completed. Rusted running boards and a few more sheets were replaced, headlight bezels, doors, hood aligned and car is brought to "ready for painting" state.

After dismantling the the engine, we found out that it was quite in pain. Main rod bearings were gone along with a crack near the valves on the cylinder head because of LPG usage as fuel. Oil pump was not working properly which explains the reason of bearing fault. So we have replaced the bearings, fixed oil pump and recovered the engine with quite fancy colors. Its not yet started since wires were also dismantled because of body works. But fancy colored :)

I found an original working radio in ebay, and won it. Also provision for radio is needed on the dash, so the repair plate for radio provision is ordered. Soon it will be welded into its place. Now its in the paining shop, first trial paint is sprayed as a sample. On top, i had two wheels painted, left one is slightly darker but i intend to choose the lighter one on the right wheel.

Inside will be painted below milky-coffee color. I am planning to cover the seats with half cloth-half leather brown.

Thats all for Part 2. See you in May :)
